Today my mother, Patricia Rudene Chlastak Owens Lang, would've been 76 years old. She would be mad at me for sharing her middle name as she did not like it.


22 SEP 1946 - Born in Houston, Harris, TX at Memorial Hospital to Rudy Raymond Chlastak Sr., who was 33 and Mary Emma Kinser Chlastak, who was 24. She was the second of two children. She had an older brother, Rudy Raymond Chlastak Jr.

2 MAR 1963 - Paternal grandfather, Rudolph Frank Chlastak, passed away from dissecting aneurysm of the aorta and atherosclerosis of the aorta at the age of 71 [Houston, Harris, TX].

14 JUN 1965 - Paternal grandmother, Emelie (Millie) Jilek Chlastak, passed away at age 70 from Uremia; cirrhosis of the liver with ascites. Secondary anemia. Arteriosclerotic heart disease. Malnutrition. Probable metastatic disease. [Houston, Harris, TX].

5 MAR 1966 - Married Wendell Dale Owens in Houston, Harris, TX when she was 19 and he was 24.

Fall of 1970 she had at the time what they think was an aneurysm that later turned out to be an AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation).


29 DEC 1970 - Birth of second daughter, Melanie Elizabeth in Houston, Harris, TX.

13 JUL 1977 - Maternal grandmother, Anna Rose Meineke Kinser, passed away from adenocarcinoma of colon/obstruction and cecal perforation and adenocarcinoma of colon at the age of 83 [Houston, Harris, TX].

27 AUG 1983 - Husband, Wendell Dale Owens, passed away at home from a heart attack at 41 in Richmond, Fort Bend, TX. They had been married 17 years.


1985 - Moved to 825 Mayweather, Richmond, Fort Bend, TX.


25 AUG 1986 - Father-in-law, Wayne Denton Owens, passed away [Dumas, Moore, TX].


1986 - Moved to 4025 Empress Lane, Richmond, Fort Bend, TX.



2 JAN 1987 - Married Joseph Albert Lang in Richmond, Fort Bend, TX when she was 40 years old and he was 48.




27 MAY 1989 - Brother, Rudy Raymond Chlastak, Jr, passed away from cancer [Houston, Harris, TX].


19 AUG 1989 - Mary Kathryne Owens married John Hicks Little in Richmond, Fort Bend, TX.

Woodville Woodville is where the Hicks family held a reunion for many years. On January 8th, my paternal 3rd great-grandmother, Susan Taylor DeFriese Watt(s) Owens , would have been 202 years old. She has been a little difficult to research as her maiden name is spelled several different ways like Dumfriese, Defrice and DeFrees. Also there is some discrepancy on whether her first husband’s last name was Watt or Watts. I recently received information from Roberta Mahr Drews , who is my 1st cousin 1x removed. Her mother, Ruth Owens Mahr , my grandaunt, received some of this information and some of it came from Carl Owens , who was my granduncle. He had written to some relatives and got some information. October 30, 2022 Happy 108th birthday to my paternal grandmother, Kathryne Viola Smith Owens . My middle name is Kathryne in her honor. It is a interesting spelling. I rarely see it spelled this way. 30 OCT 1914 - Born in Bagwell, Red River, TX to Randolph Dee Smith and Margaret Lorene Windell Smith , who were both 22. She was the first of three children.
