Today my maternal grandmother, Mary Emma Kinser Chlastak, would have been 100 years old.

21 MAY 1922 - Born in Houston, Harris, TX to John Chester Kinser who was 30 and Anna Rose Meineke Kinser who was 28. She was the fifth of five children. Her older siblings were Myrtle Lucile, Ruth Evelyn, and twins John Chester and Gordon Wayne, were born before her.

Not sure who all is in this photo besides Wayne, little Wayne, Aunt Margaret, Mary and little Rudy. 

22 SEP 1946 - Birth of daughter, Patricia Rudene [Houston, Harris TX].





I wasn't sure who all was in this photo but I recognize my grandparents, Rudy and Mary, who to the left of the lady holding the baby. My mother, Pat, is the little girl in the middle on the front row. George Herren, lived next door to my grandparents and his daughter, Arleen, is on the front row to the left of my mom. I asked Arleen if she could identify everyone. She said "I know the lady holding the baby would be Tata Young and the little one Robbie. Not sure who the older kids are on the front row nor the lady next to my dad. The far back left might be Frank Young. They used to love across the street. I guess the tall boy is little Rudy and actually in more thinking the tall girl is likely Diana Young. This was likely Easter at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Park Place where we all went to church.

2 MAY 1962 - Father, John Chester Kinser Sr., passed away from generalized peritonitis and adenocarcinoma of rectum at the age of 70 [Houston, Harris TX].


2 MAR 1963 - Father-in-law, Rudolph Frank Chlastak, passed away from dissecting aneurysm of the aorta and atherosclerosis of the aorta at the age of 71 [Houston, Harris TX].


8 AUG 1964 - Son, Rudy, married Jean Lea Child [Houston, Harris TX].


14 JUN 1965 - Mother-in-law, Emelie (Millie) Jilek Chlastak, passed away from Uremia; cirrhosis of the liver with ascites. Secondary anemia. Arteriosclerotic heart disease. Malnutrition. Probable metastatic disease at the age of 70 [Houston, Harris TX].


5 MAR 1966 - Daughter, Pat, married Wendell Dale Owens [Houston, Harris TX].


7 OCT 1966 - Birth of first granddaughter, Adora Marie Chlastak [Houston, Harris TX].

24 MAY 1972 - Rudy Jr. and Jean divorced [Houston, Harris TX].


13 JUL 1977 - Mother, Anna Rose Meineke Kinser, passed away from adenocarcinoma of colon/obstruction and cecal perforation and adenocarcinoma of colon at the age of 83 [Houston, Harris TX].


11 SEP 1980 - Death of sister, Ruth Evelyn Kinser Hodges from cardiac arrest, ischemic heart disease and arteriosclerosis at the age of 63 [Conroe, Montgomery, TX].


27 AUG 1983 - Son-in-law, Wendell Dale Owens, passed away at home from a heart attack at the age of 41 [Richmond, Fort Bend, TX].

3 AUG 1886 - Family reunion


27 MAY 1989 - Son, Rudy Raymond Chlastak, Jr, passed away from cancer of the neck, if I remember correctly, at the age of 45 [Houston, Harris TX]. I don't have his death certificate.

16 APR 1990 - Husband, Rudy Raymond Chlastak passed away at the age of 76 [Houston, Harris TX]. I don't have exact cause of death because I don't have the death certificate.


Four generations: Mary, myself holding my first born daughter, Jenna and my mom, Pat.


21 NOV 1993 - Daughter, Patricia Rudene Chlatak Owens Lang, passed away from an Arteriovenous malformation at the age of 46 [Houston, Harris TX].

8 OCT 1994 - Sister, Myrtle Lucile Kinser Hawkins, passed away at the age of 79 [Hockley, Harris TX].


20 JAN 2002 - Passed away from in San Marcos, Hays, TX from at the age of 79. I don't have her death certificate and can't remember her exact cause of death.


Burial - Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, Houston, Harris Co, TX.

I don’t have a picture of her tombstone. I need to go to Houston to visit the cemetery as there are not many photos from relatives that are buried there.


I spent many weekends at my grandmother's house. We only lived 15 minutes from her so I knew her well. She did live to see all three of my girls, which I am thankful for.

SUSAN TAYLOR DEFRIESE WATT 1821 - 1890

On January 8th, my paternal 3rd great-grandmother, Susan Taylor DeFriese Watt(s) Owens , would have been 202 years old. She has been a little difficult to research as her maiden name is spelled several different ways like Dumfriese, Defrice and DeFrees. Also there is some discrepancy on whether her first husband’s last name was Watt or Watts. I recently received information from Roberta Mahr Drews , who is my 1st cousin 1x removed. Her mother, Ruth Owens Mahr , my grandaunt, received some of this information and some of it came from Carl Owens , who was my granduncle. He had written to some relatives and got some information. October 30, 2022 Happy 108th birthday to my paternal grandmother, Kathryne Viola Smith Owens . My middle name is Kathryne in her honor. It is a interesting spelling. I rarely see it spelled this way. 30 OCT 1914 - Born in Bagwell, Red River, TX to Randolph Dee Smith and Margaret Lorene Windell Smith , who were both 22. She was the first of three children.
