Today John’s paternal 2nd great-grandmother, Sarah Sanderson Gray, would have been 150 years old.

2 NOV 1872 - Born in AR to James Sanderson and Mary Sanderson. I haven’t been able to locate any info on her parents or siblings except that her parents are mentioned in the book “Cherokee County History.”

2 JAN 1889 - Married John Wesley Gray in Cherokee Co, TX when she was 16 and he was 20.

4 OCT 1890 - Birth of daughter, Annie Belle [New Summerfield, Cherokee, TX].


16 FEB 1893 - Birth of daughter, Rosa “Rosie” [TX].


28 AUG 1895 - Birth of daughter, Johnie Ida [TX].


1 MAR 1897 - Birth of daughter, Mary Savannah [Cherokee County, TX].


1900 - Residence - Lone Star, Cherokee, TX.



2 FEB 1901 - Birth of daughter, Idella “Della” [Jacksonville, Cherokee County., TX].


The above mentioned book mentioned two more daughters, Gertrude and Frances. It mentions that Frances passed away at birth but no other information is given.


15 SEP 1905 - Passed away at the age of 32 [Cherokee County, TX].


Burial - Myrtle Springs Cemetery, Cherokee, TX.
