Today my father, Wendell “Dale” Owens, would have been 81.

12 OCT 1941 - Born in Finney Switch, Hale, TX and was known as Dale. Parents were Wayne Denton Owens, who was 30 and Kathryne Viola Smith Owens, who was 26. He was the sixth of eight children. Older siblings were Peggy Sue, Donald Wayne, Barbara Ann, Harold Thomas and Linda Jo.

5 MAR 1966 - Married Patricia Rudene Chlastak in Houston, Harris, TX.

13 OCT 1967 - Death of brother, Richard Paul from a car accident [KS].

We lived about 30 minutes from Galveston so we went to the beach a lot.

20 NOV 1968 - Maternal grandfather, Randolph Dee Smith, passed away at age 76 [Purcell, McClain, OK].

20 AUG 1970 - He caught a 34.5 pound, 42 inch long red fish caught at the 61st Street Pier in Galveston. It made the Houston Post on September 6, 1970 and was in the brochure for the 61st Street Pier. That’s me in the picture in the brochure. 😄
