MINNA HARTMAN MEINEKE 1870 - 1919

Happy 152nd birthday to my maternal great, great-grandmother, Minna “Minnie” Hartman Meineke. 

11 FEB 1870 - Born in Germany. At this time I do not know who her parents were and if she had any siblings. On her son, Henry, death certificate her daughter, Dora, reported that their mother’s birthplace was Russia. But on her death certificate, her son-in-law, W. B. McClendon, stated that she was born in Germany.


15 SEP 1886 - Married Barnhard Albert Meineke in Houston, Harris, TX when she was 16. The marriage has both of their names misspelled so I’m not a 100% sure this is their certificate.



17 NOV 1887 - Birth of daughter, Johanna Marie [TX].


24 SEP 1889 - Birth of son, Henry Emanuel [Houston, Harris, TX].


20 OCT 1891 - Birth of daughter, Dorothy [TX].


17 JAN 1894 - Birth of daughter, Anna Rose [Houston, Harris, TX]. This was my great-grandmother.


12 OCT 1896 - Birth of son, Frederick William [Houston, Harris, TX].


10 JAN 1900 - Birth of son, Theodore Bernhard (Theo)  [TX].


1900 - Residence - Justice Precinct 2, Harris, TX. This states that she was born in TX.



3 JAN 1906 - Birth of daughter, Margaret Willie [Houston, Harris, TX].


1910 - Residence - Justice Precinct 1, Harris, TX. This states that she was born in Germany.



1911 - Lived in Houston, Harris, TX. Their farm was near Westheimer Rd. If you are familiar with that road it is hard to believe that there was farmland there in the past.



5 APR 1919 - Passed away from apoplexy in Houston Harris, TX at the age of 49. They had been married 32 years.

Burial - She was originally interred in the historic Magnolia Cemetery in Houston and was later moved to Woodlawn Cemetery in Houston, Harris, TX. Plot Block B.

October 30, 2022 Happy 108th birthday to my paternal grandmother, Kathryne Viola Smith Owens . My middle name is Kathryne in her honor. It is a interesting spelling.
